After Nyck de Vries was let go by AlphaTauri, rumours started to go around the paddock whether Sergio Perez could also be let go by Red Bull come the end of this or next season. Lando Norris also became a likely candidate for a seat at Red Bull. Zak Brown commented on this question and also answered if would he sign Max Verstappen to drive for McLaren instead of Norris leaving the team.
Zak Brown responded in Singapore to Lando Norris’ previous comments at Monza, saying that he would like to be Max Verstappen’s teammate. "I think he was just responding to a question he was asked. Everyone else is stirring it," Zak Brown began.
"I think they're good buddies. If you ask any racing driver if they want to race another competitor, I think you'll always get an answer of, 'I'd love to be Lewis's teammate, or Max's teammate, or Fernando's teammate'. I think everyone's picked up a question he answered and stirred it a little bit. That's Formula One, but that's all right. He's in a good place," McLaren’s CEO explained the situation.

'Max can come if there is a seat open'

If Norris wants to be Verstappen’s teammate, a solution for Brown can be signing the Dutchman. This is all hypothetical as the defending world champion has a contract with Red Bull until 2028. "It's the first time I've been asked that question. I think anytime you have a driver of that calibre, if there's an open seat, of course. But we're very happy with our two racing drivers," Brown answered.
