McLaren CEO Zak Brown has joined the long list of figures within the paddock who have commented on the news of Christian Horner’s dismissal as Red Bull’s CEO and team principal. For years fierce rivals both on the race tracks and at the microphones, Zak Brown and Christian Horner have represented one of the most exciting sporting rivalries in recent
Formula 1 history, with a battle between Red Bull and McLaren that kept fans glued to their screens both on and off the track.
Too bad that, with the news of the dismissal of the former Red Bull team principal and CEO, Brown will now have to look for another worthy rival to challenge at the microphones, considering the clear superiority of the papaya car on track for quite some time now.
Many, ever since the Milton Keynes team officially announced the news, have expressed their views on what is inevitably a story destined to shake not only Red Bull but also the balance within the paddock.
Zak Brown and Christian Horner
Brown not surprised by Horner's departure
Naturally, McLaren’s CEO was among those called upon, and when asked if he was surprised by what happened, he replied bluntly: ''Maybe the timing, but but not the result.''
''I think here's been a lot of drama there the last couple of years, and it doesn't seem like that drama has been calming down. Maybe it can get worse. So I'm not surprised any time in the middle of the season.''
Despite the departure of one of the most successful team principals in Formula 1 history, Brown has no intention of letting his guard down, fully aware that he still faces a formidable rival in
Max Verstappen.''We are head down on our championship - finally the American added - we got Max still knocking the door. We've got to pay attention to that.''
