Oscar Piastri and Yuki Tsunoda have weighed in on the recent tape war that has further heated up the battle for the Drivers’ Championship.
“In Austin they were on the grid too late doing it. I guess (is) gamesmanship”

Speaking in Mexico about one of the weekend’s hot topics, the Australian said he sees it as part of the gamemanship that comes when the stakes are so high and the gaps so close.
“I don’t have that much to add, but they’re within their rights to do it. Obviously, in Austin, they were on the grid too late doing it. I guess (is) gamesmanship. But everyone will have their own opinion on whether it’s necessary or not.”
Tsunoda, meanwhile, highlighted how difficult it can be to see the yellow grid line, which is placed specifically to give drivers a visual reference for positioning their car correctly within the rows.
“I think bottom point is it’s just really difficult to see the orange line with this current generation. It’s really hard. Hopefully it’ll be better next year with the visibility.”

Red Bull’s tape gate: Mekies pledges 'control' after McLaren drama

Although there is no explicit rule forbidding the removal of signaling tape, Red Bull was still fined in Austin for breaching the grid access procedure — they had entered the “gate well area” while the marshals were closing access, constituting a grid safety violation.
This sparked debate over how far teams are willing to push the limits, even resorting to borderline tactics to gain a slight advantage over a rival.
