Arrivabene and Glock discuss what next for Ferrari: 'At Ferrari, one person won't change anything'

The two men are pushing back against a week of speculation that started with Horner's interview with The Times. In it, the former Red Bull boss called Ferrari the only team he would join without an ownership stake however, Horner's words have since been incorrectly misinterpreted as a come-and-get-me plea to Ferrari.

Horner has been out of F1 since he left Red Bull in July 2025. He won six constructors' and eight drivers' championships with the team. Vasseur signed a multi-year extension last season that is understood to run until at least the end of 2027.

Arrivabene knows the job from the inside, having led the Scuderia himself. Speaking on Sky Sport F1's he argued that the man Ferrari appoints matters less than the conditions he is given to work in. His comments go straight at the idea that Horner is the answer.

He also pointed to the technical talent Ferrari has lost over the years.

He added: "On top of that, you have to start everything from scratch. At Ferrari, there are no longer engineers of the calibre of Resta, Sassi, Cardile and Stella, who are now working for other teams. You have to rebuild. Ferrari needs stability and a free hand. Those two things can solve many problems. It isn't one man, no matter how decorated, who can solve the problems."

Arrivabene stopped short of backing Vasseur outright, saying he did not know how much freedom the Frenchman really has. He also had a sharp answer to Horner's line about Toto Wolff needing someone to ruffle his hair. He said: "The only one who messed up Toto Wolff's hair for a few races was me."

Glock meanwhile took aim at how Horner went about it. Speaking on Sky, the former F1 driver objected to a candidate putting himself forward in public while Ferrari already has a team principal under contract, saying: "That's really not the done thing, to get himself talked about through the media like that and unsettle Ferrari."

Glock also made the case for keeping Vasseur, saying: "Fred Vasseur has brought Ferrari back to where the team is now, in second place in the World Championship. He has brought structure and order to the team. To replace him now and start the next cycle would be completely the wrong move for Ferrari from a strategic point of view."
