Sergio Agüero trolls Norris over Colapinto ban call, and Norris responds with a like

The Argentine former footballer stepped into a row that has spread well beyond the paddock since Saturday's Turn 1 pile-up in Baku. Colapinto's move at the restart took out his Alpine teammate Pierre Gasly and Norris.

Norris reacted by calling for at least a one-race ban for the Argentine, as GPblog reported, drawing much criticism on social media. Colapinto has since taken responsibility and apologised to Alpine, Gasly and Norris.

After Norris' comments, Argentine fans flooded one of his older posts, a photo dump the reigning world champion shared on September 17. Several Argentine outlets, including MDZ and Aire de Santa Fe, reported that the post went from around 2,000 comments to more than 73,000.

Agüero was among them. He first posted a sticker of himself wagging a finger in a 'no' gesture, then added a short line that translates as "We've come to give him some love." MDZ reported that he wrote the line as a reply to another comment and added a laughing emoji.

The comment passed 42,000 likes and drew more than 500 replies although Agüero never mentioned Colapinto or the controversy by name. Given the timing, though, users read it straight away as a message aimed at the British driver.

Norris then gave the exchange a twist of his own as he liked Agüero's sticker, even though the jab came in response to his demand for a ban. That turned what looked like a one-sided dig into a rare light moment in an otherwise bitter row.

Many of the other comments were less friendly. Fans reminded Norris of his 2025 Canadian GP collision with Oscar Piastri, including somewhat strangely Argentina's foreign minister.

Agüero did not stop at Norris' account. Alpine put out a statement against online hate after the race, and the former Argentina striker commented under it too. He backed the call for respect but defended the fans' reaction.

Agüero's comments add to the pressure on Colapinto's position at Enstone, as GPBlog discussed, analysing that his place in the team is coming under pressure.
