Seven Formula 1 teams have already sent two letters to the FIA asking for clarification regarding Ferrari's allegedly illegal 2019 engine . A third letter will soon follow to the international motorsport association because the FIA has not yet received a satisfactory answer.
The way of communication between the teams and the FIA has become increasingly hostile according to  Auto, Motor und Sport  . In the second letter, according to the German medium, Jean Todt is accused of abuse of power. The FIA chief replied with an attack by saying that during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix he encouraged several team bosses to protest. " The teams have also confirmed this, but other people from the world federation would have advised against protesting," they write.
In their fight for 'justice',  Red Bull Racing, Renault, McLaren, Racing Point, Alpha Tauri and Williams now have to do without Mercedes . The world champion would be afraid of image damage according to various sources, but there would also have been a conversation between the big bosses of Ferrari and parent company Daimler. Mercedes would withdraw in the interest of the sport because they fear that a longer follow-up to this issue will put Formula 1 in a worse light.

Mercedes would also feel protest in the wallet

There is also a third reason according to AMS. If Ferrari is removed from all results, this will cost Mercedes money. The World Championship points achieved by the German racing team would increase in 2019 and that means extra registration money to participate in the coming season. The registration fee at the FIA is based on last year's championship points.
