FIA stewards summon first drivers and hand out first fine at the Madring

During the first free practice session at the Madring, the FIA stewards handed out the first and second fine of the weekend to Sergio Perez. Moreover, Alexander Albon has been summoned to the stewards for allegedly rejoining the track unsafely.

Perez exceeds speed limit twice in FP1

The Cadillac exceeded the speed limit in the pit lane on two occasions, first by 6.7 km/h and then by 16.7 km/h. The speed limit is set at 80 km/h this weekend in Madrid.
He received a €700 fine for the first incident, and a €1000 fine for the second one.

Albon incident under investigation

Alex Albon is also being investigated by the stewards for allegedly rejoining the track in an unsafe manner at Turn 6 and has been summoned by the stewards in the Spanish capital. Racing Bulls' Arvid Lindblad was also summoned in relation to the incident.

What happened in FP1 at the Madring

Mercedes' George Russell topped the first ever free practice session at the Madring circuit with a 1:34:077. Kimi Antonelli finished second, while Charles Leclerc completed the top three in the Spanish capital.
There were no crashes in FP1, but multiple laps were deleted, while many drivers were unhappy about being impeded during the session.
Among others, Nico Hulkenberg and Carlos Sainz both voiced their concerns about seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
