Colton Herta will not be able to compete in the famous Indy 500 this year due to a clash with the Formula 2 calendar. After competing in the
IndyCar Series since 2018, the American driver made the switch to Formula 2 for the 2026 season as he works towards reaching
Formula 1.
At the moment, competing in events outside of Formula 1 or Formula 2 is not unusual. Max Verstappen and Lance Stroll also race in GT3 cars, and one of the Canadian’s teammates at Circuit Paul Ricard this weekend will be F2 driver Mari Boya.

GPblog was first to report, Formula 2 replaced the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian rounds of the season with weekends in Miami and Canada in order to avoid a three-month-long gap after the Australian GP.
The
Canadian Grand Prix clashes with the Indy 500, which means that Herta will not be able to race in Indiana that weekend.
