Fernando Alonso took the Aston Martin Valkyrie out for a shakedown run on track as 2026 season approaches. The two-time world champion was spotted in a series of images shared by Aston Martin at the MotorLand Aragón circuit, featuring one of the two road-legal hypercars designed by Adrian Newey.
Despite its road-car status, the technical specifications have little in common with a conventional production vehicle and are far closer to a
Formula 1 car in terms of outright performance.
At its heart sits a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 developed in collaboration with Cosworth, paired with a hybrid system featuring an electric motor. The combined output is in the region of 1,139 hp (850 kW), with around 900 Nm of torque delivered through a seven-speed automated transmission driving the rear wheels.

Performance figures are equally extreme, with a 0–100 km/h sprint in approximately 2.5 to 2.7 seconds and a top speed exceeding 350 km/h. Thanks to a carbon-fibre monocoque chassis and a kerb weight of roughly 1,270 kg in road trim, the car boasts an almost 1:1 power-to-weight ratio.
Aerodynamically, it relies on heavily
F1-inspired solutions with a strong focus on ground effect to generate immense downforce, complemented by race-derived pushrod suspension at both the front and rear — underlining just how far removed it is from a conventional road car.
Alonso receives 'outstanding' £210,000+ festive gift in Monaco
The Spanish champion also received another rather special Christmas gift from Aston Martin: a Aston Martin DBX S, one of the most performance-focused cars in the British brand’s line-up.
Producing 727 horsepower, the DBX S can reach a top speed of 193 mph and accelerates from 0 to 200 km/h in just 11.4 seconds, with prices starting at £210,000 (around €240,000).
