Alonso reveals the name of his first child with a fitting gift from F1

Alonso became a father for the first time just before the Grand Prix weekend in Japan. Because of the birth of his first child, he missed Thursday’s media day. The first free practice session was then driven by reserve driver Jak Crawford.

The Aston Martin driver already confirmed during the weekend in Suzuka that he and his partner Melissa Jiménez had a baby boy, but Alonso did not disclose the name. He has now revealed it.

On Instagram, Alonso posted a birth gift that the Aston Martin driver received from Formula 1. It is a paddock pass with a photo and the baby’s name.

His name is Leonard Alonso Jiménez. The Spaniard has kept the photo private on his social media.

"Welcome to the F1 family," is written on the pass. "Thank you so much Formula 1! The first of many," Alonso wrote with his post.

Earlier, Alonso had already said that the delivery went well and that his girlfriend and child are doing fine. For Melissa Jiménez, this is not her first child, the Spaniard already has two daughters and a son from a previous relationship.

At age 38, this makes a fourth child, while Alonso has become a father for the first time at the age of 44.
