Fernando Alonso might not get the rest he was hoping for, the Spaniard said jokingly after the Japanese Grand Prix.
Due the Middle East conflict between the United States and Iran, both the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix will not be contested in April. The season will continue on the first weekend of May in Miami, handing everyone a month-long break from on-track competition.
Alonso previously skipped media day at the Suzuka Circuit, as the two-time Formula 1 world champion arrived late to the weekend because his first child was born.
As a result, the Spaniard has some interesting weeks ahead as well, despite not competing at Grands Prix.
Concluding his interview with Spanish media, he said: "Thanks. Yes, yes, now it is time to rest a bit at home."

As he began walking away, Alonso added with a smile: "Or no resting."

Alonso on becoming a father

Earlier this weekend, the Spaniard already commented on becoming a father. "You never really imagine anything specific. Things just happen as they happen, and there’s a bit of stress and worry about everything going well.

"Fortunately, it went well, both for the mum and the baby. A super happy, very special moment. And now, it's time to work," he said.
