The Aston Martin team has provided an update on Fernando Alonso’s participation for the remainder of the race weekend in Japan. The two-time world champion missed Thursday’s media day and the first practice session at the
Suzuka circuit, with the Silverstone-based outfit
confirming his absence earlier due to personal family reasons. However, Aston Martin has now confirmed to GPblog that the veteran driver is expected to hit the track for the second practice session in Suzuka.

Stroll speaks on the potential of the AMR26
Earlier, Alonso’s teammate Lance
Stroll opened up on the potential of Aston Martin’s AMR26, despite the team’s early-season struggles.
Stroll, who largely adopted a cautious tone in his assessment of the car, highlighted specific areas needing improvement, particularly in high-speed corners.
The Aston Martin team has yet to complete a full Grand Prix distance due to power unit vibration issues plaguing the AMR26. Earlier, Stroll himself admitted that this remains the most painful part of driving the 2026 car.
