Adrian Newey will leave Red Bull Racing in the first quarter of 2025 and his destination is uncertain. Retirement is not out of the question, but the 65-year-old Briton simply just cannot miss out on a single bit of motorsport action. Newey competed at the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique with a Lotus 49B. The car was first introduced in 1968.
Adrian Newey finished in fourth place at the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique at the famous Monte Carlo circuit. The British master designer competed in 'Serie D', where cars from 1966 until 1972 participated. He briefly fought to finish on the podium, but it was not meant to be for the 65-year-old. Even though he is on his way out, Newey still wore a Red Bull race suit.
Newey used a Lotus 49B, that was first introduced by Lotus back in 1968 for that year's Formula One Monaco Grand Prix. Mr. Monaco himself, Graham Hill took pole position and won that race, and eventually won the second and last title of his career. Newey himself has worked at multiple teams, but never for Lotus.
The competition continues in the principality this afternoon in former Formula One cars with 'Serie F' (1977-1980) and 'Serie G' (1981-1985)
