Max Verstappen was left furious with Lando Norris after qualifying for the Mexican Grand Prix, accusing the McLaren driver of getting in his way during a crucial flying lap. The Red Bull driver appeared to be on course for a strong result before losing valuable time in the final sector, prompting an angry reaction over team radio.
Verstappen made an impressive start to his lap at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, setting the fastest first sector and maintaining a competitive pace through the middle part of the circuit. However, his hopes of challenging for pole suffered a setback as he approached the stadium section, where several cars were running ahead of him.

The Dutchman encountered traffic on the approach to the stadium section and locked up his front-left tyre under braking for the chicane. With Norris among the drivers ahead, Verstappen appeared frustrated by the McLaren driver's positioning, believing it compromised his attempt to improve his qualifying time.
His anger was immediately apparent over the radio after completing the lap, as he sarcastically remarked: "F****** brilliant from Norris, puts the car there."

Despite the incident, Verstappen finished qualifying with the fourth-fastest time. However, he will line up fifth on the grid for Sunday's race after receiving a one-place penalty for an incident involving Liam Lawson during the second free practice session.
Lewis Hamilton ultimately secured pole position in Mexico City, narrowly beating George Russell, while Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc completed the top three. Verstappen's Red Bull teammate Isack Hadjar qualified seventh, although the Frenchman also faced an investigation for allegedly crossing the white line at the pit exit.
