Red Bull Racing has fired a team member who was guilty of racism. The Milton Keynes-based team confirmed this itself over the weekend at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The employee, whose name has not been revealed, used racist language in personal text messages.

"We condemn racist abuse of any kind," said a Red Bull spokesman. "We have a zero-tolerance approach to racist behaviour within our team. The person in question is no longer an employee of Red Bull Racing. We will not be commenting further at this stage."

According to Sky Sports, the messages came to light after being posted on social media. Not much impact on Red Bull's season will be made by the employee's departure, as it was not a high-ranking member.

Racism in Formula 1

After the British Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton became a victim of racism on social media. Red Bull Racing also announced at the time, "We condemn any form of racist abuse towards our team, our competitors and our fans." The Austrian formation is now putting its money where its mouth is by firing someone from its own staff.
