The FIA F1 Race Director Rui Marques has declared a 'Heat Hazard' ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.
Due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East between the United States, Israel and Iran, the Bahrain Grand Prix could not take place in April as originally planned this year. The race has been rescheduled for the first weekend of October and will be held at the Sepang circuit near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
It will not only be a humid weekend with an increased chance of rain, but because of the warm conditions, the FIA has declared a so-called 'Heat Hazard'.
"In accordance with Article B1.5.10 of the FIA F1 Regulations, having received a forecast from the Official Weather Service predicting that the Heat Index will be greater than 31.0°C at some time during the Race at this Competition, a Heat Hazard is declared."

The local crowd is seemingly taking advantage of Formula 1's unexpected return to the Malaysian circuit.
"We are confident that the number will reach 100,000. Looking at all the different races that F1 has done this year, the numbers have been phenomenal. We believe that the experience we have created here with Bahrain will be a spectacular one," circuit CEO Azhan Shafriman Hanif said to Bernama and RTM.
