Aston Martin suffers financial blow: multimillion loss despite huge revenue

The Aston Martin Formula 1 team has once again posted tens of millions of pounds in losses despite revenue growth. The team closed 2025 with a loss of £41.1 million, while revenue simultaneously jumped to £344.2 million.
The revenue of Aston Martin’s Formula 1 team came in at £344.2 million in 2025, equivalent to roughly €394 million. A year earlier, its revenue was £280.7 million, meaning it increased by 22.6% in a single year.
AMR GP Limited’s revenue includes sponsorship income, prize money, and other income directly related to the activities of the Formula 1 team.
However, the higher income was not sufficient to turn a profit. Aston Martin recorded an operating loss of £20.4 million. Partly due to interest expenses, the pre-tax loss rose to £51.7 million. After accounting for a tax credit of £10.6 million, the full-year loss dropped to £41.1 million. In 2024, that loss was £45.8 million.

Aston Martin spends much more on personnel

A major cost driver is the continued expansion of the organization. Throughout 2025, Aston Martin employed an average of 996 people. A year earlier, that figure was 845.
The technical organization grew in particular. The average number of employees involved in design, production, and engineering rose from 673 to 762. The administrative headcount also increased, from 172 to 234 employees.
The rise in personnel costs is even more pronounced. In 2025, they totaled £134.1 million, compared to £69.8 million a year earlier. Wages alone amounted to £107.5 million.
Enormous sums were again spent on developing the Formula 1 car. Aston Martin reports that £136.7 million in research and development costs were incurred during the year. In 2024, this figure was £125.9 million.

The annual report also shows that AMR GP Limited took out a new £40 million loan in 2025. The agreement has a five-year term and carries a fixed interest rate of ten percent. The loan comes from a party within the group.
At the end of 2025, AMR GP Limited had a total of £336.6 million in loans on its balance sheet. Of that, £29.2 million was due within two to five years and £307.4 million within five to ten years.
This figure highlights how much money is being invested in the Formula 1 project in Silverstone. The new AMR Technology Campus was brought further into operation, and Aston Martin reports that the new wind tunnel became fully operational in 2025. The facility was used during the year for the AMR25, after which the primary focus, according to the team, shifted to the development of the AMR26.
