Sebastian Vettel had everything but a smooth start at Aston Martin at the beginning of this year. This started already at the presentation and the test days and then continued during the first couple of races. However, over the last couple of weekends, Vettel has been in good old fashioned form again, with his second place in Baku being the provisional highlight.

Aston Martin team principal Otmar Szafnauer says in conversation with Motorsport.com that Vettel's arrival has changed certain things, such as debriefs, in a positive way. "Sebastian has more experience and has caused a change in the way we do our debriefings. Not just Lance, but the whole team has embraced that."

Stroll and Vettel ideal duo

At least, that is how Szafnauer sees it. The duo has been regularly scoring points with the green car lately and the team boss, therefore, thinks the duo is a great success so far. Both on and off the track. "Sebastian has provided expansion in the way we do our things. Lance is no rookie, he has been driving with us for a while and there is a good dynamic between Lance and Sebastian."

Aston Martin is currently battling mainly with AlphaTauri and Alpine Racing for fifth place behind Ferrari and McLaren. Looking upwards doesn't seem to be an option at the moment, but the fact is that Aston Martin is in a good flow. Especially at the street circuits in Monaco and Baku, this was evident. Szafnauer will have the goal with Aston Martin to extend this form to the normal circuits.
