Rumour: Deal between Perez and Red Bull is almost complete

Sergio Perez has been evasive in recent weeks when asked whether there is contact with Red Bull Racing. Behind the scenes, however, there already seems to be a lot of discussions between both parties. At least, that is what the Formula 1 journalist Albert Fábrega claims at Movistar, the Spanish broadcaster.

In the paddock in Abu Dhabi on Sunday there was a rumour that the deal between Perez and Red Bull could possibly be completed in the next few hours or days. "The deal between Checo and Red Bull is almost complete, although there are still some fringes," Fábrega told the television station.

Before Christmas the Austrian race team will announce which of the three (Alexander Albon, Nico Hulkenberg or Perez) will be Max Verstappen's teammate for at least one year in 2021.

The decision on who will race for AlphaTauri will be made on Wednesday. Everything indicates that Yuki Tsunoda will be able to show his skills next season with Pierre Gasly at his side. Tsunoda will be in action on Tuesday during the Young Driver Test and if no crazy things happen there, the signatures will be put on paper.
