Alexander Albon has described the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve as a "circuit for the drivers" as he prepares to drive his Toro Rosso around the track for the first time in his Formula 1 career.

Albon completed an impressive weekend in Monaco last weekend, finishing in P8, with the Red Bull sister side managing its first double-points finish of the season, with Daniil Kvyat a place ahead of his colleague.

The British-born Thai driver has never driven around the circuit before, but he is expecting good things from the track as we prepare for round six of the Formula 1 season.

"I haven't been to Montreal yet," Albon admitted. "I've only heard good things about this circuit. The last few races have prepared me well for this circuit because the circuit is much like Monaco but also like Barcelona.

"It really seems to be a circuit for the drivers. You play with the wall and every driver likes it. I enjoyed myself when I got to know the track on the simulator. It seems to be very technical."

Albon's impressive recent form has also given him plenty of confidence as he prepares for his debut in Canada: "I finished between eighth and 11th place in the last five races.

"This means that the car is good on many different types of circuits. This means that we have a good basis on which to continue building. I, myself, have also come to understand better how to adjust the car. So if things are going in the right direction."
