Good news for De Vries and Tsunoda; high hopes for new Imola floor

Good news for Nyck de Vries. The AlphaTauri driver is scheduled to have a new floor at Imola. The 28-year-old Dutchman will hope to head towards the points with it.

For now, the AT04 is not yet bringing what it should. In Miami, the team was arguably the slowest team on the grid along with McLaren. That while the Faenza-based racing stable had hopes of moving further up towards the midfield after a disappointing 2022, which saw it finish only ninth in the constructors' championship.

In Italy, De Vries and Yuki Tsunoda will drive with a new floor. The update should provide the necessary aerodynamic progression and therefore time gains. "We are looking forward to introdcuation. It is an important step, it is a big step, so we hope it will meet expectations. There is always a question mark over the quality of correlation. But so far, the updates we have done meet expectations," said Guillaume Dezoteux.

Confidence returns

The 'Head of Vehicle' went on to explain to Motorsport.com that he is confident about the new floor, as the new front wing that was driven in Miami met the expectations arising from the wind tunnel data. Franz Tost is also reportedly confident again. The engineer, reportedly chief aerodynamicist Dickon Balmforth, in whom the Austrian team boss had lost confidence, has now left.
