It was a hot and tense Friday afternoon session at the Sachsenring as the riders battled for their places in tomorrow's qualifying sessions.
Marc Marquez set the fastest time of the afternoon with a 1:19.394 and topped the session, as many expected. Raul Fernandez finished in second, but looks like a strong contender for the win if he can keep up this kind of form.
Jack Miller was the standout rider of the session, taking his Pramac Yamaha to an exceptional P5. The Aussie will go directly into Q2 for the second time this season. Franco Morbidelli also made a rare top ten appearance, however he will face a three-place grid penalty after impeding Pedro Acosta on the racing line.
Ducati's Francesco Bagnaia missed out on a Q2 slot and will have to contest in tomorrow morning's Q1 alongside three Yamahas, four Hondas and three KTMs.
Enea Bastianini had the only major crash of the session with a fast slide in Turn 8. Thankfully the Italian rider was okay, but his Tech3 KTM less so.
