If F1 teams were World Cup teams... Part One!

It’s time for the FIFA World Cup once again, and it will be a great month for fans of both football and F1, with the French, Austrian and British GPs on the horizon. And that got us thinking, which F1 teams are similar to which football teams in the World Cup?

Ferrari – Brazil

The most successful team in F1 history would of course be the most successful team in F1 history. Similarly to Brazil, Ferrari have had a period where they haven’t been on top but have come back with renewed vigour and thrust in 2018. Like Ferrari, Brazil have a real chance of victory this year, led by Sebastian Vettel and Neymar respectively.

Mercedes – Germany

The reigning champions, and a safe bet to do it again, Mercedes may not appear to be radical or flashy, but they are very good at getting the job done. Much like Germany, whose organisation and team spirit led them to their fourth World Cup triumph last time. Nobody would be surprised if Germany won the World Cup, just as nobody would be surprised if Mercedes won the Constructors’ and Drivers’ titles.

Red Bull – France

Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen bring a blend of youth and experience to the Red Bull team, along with searing pace and buckets of talent. France also possess this blend and are among the favourites to go all the way this summer. France are also somewhat of an unknown side, nobody knows if there are going to be awesome, or terrible! Compare this to Red Bull, who can go from victory one week, to crashing into each other the next!
