Renault team principal Cyril Abiteboul has acknowledged that the French team struggled a lot with the tyres in Monaco, which he sees as a weakness of the team.

Both Nico Hulkenberg and Carlos Sainz finished in the points, but Abiteboul wasn't completely happy.

"The result is good, to finish in the points with both cars," he told Crash.net.

"It was clear where our weakness was in Monaco, we have to work on that directly."

Tyre degradation was a big issue for Renault in Monaco, even though in the previous races, this wasn't the case.

"We did better in Monaco than last year, but we weren't as competitive as in the last few races.

"We have a lot of work to do to get to know the compounds better and to get them under control.

"The teams in front of us have no problems with the tyres, so it's not impossible."
