Zhou delighted with best F1 result so far: 'Never expected it here'

There were many smiling faces in the Alfa Romeo garage after the Canadian Grand Prix, but none were probably as big as Guanyu Zhou's. He scored his second points finish of the year with a fine eighth place.

The rookie finished just behind teammate Valtteri Bottas, who has been consistent throughout the year. For Zhou, it was his best points finish to date in his debut season, having already scored a point in his first race.

Zhou is understandably 'super happy' not only to finish in the points again but also to make it back to the finish line after a number of DNFs. "It’s very good to get the frustration out of the way, finally get to the finish line," Zhou said in conversation with Formula1.com.

He is therefore overjoyed with ninth place, which is also his best result so far since his debut in Formula One. "Obviously never expected to be doing that in Montreal, it’s a tough, tough track but the whole weekend it’s been very, very good," continued Zhou, who is happy to finish in the points with both cars.
