Alpine sets high goals: "Always two cars in the points"

After the first races of the season, it is clear: Alpine has taken a step forward in terms of competitiveness. The French team has not yet been able to fully exploit their potential due to technical malfunctions and a penalty for Fernando Alonso in Miami, among other things.

Structural points

Nevertheless, there is a lot of positivity within Alpine. Fighting for victory is not possible, but behind the top teams of Red Bull Racing and Ferrari, the French are fighting with Mercedes and McLaren for best-of-the-rest. If Alpine really wants to stay in the fight with these teams, they will have to start grabbing points, as Alpine team boss Otmar Szafnauer realizes.

Only the Bahrain Grand Prix ended with two Alpine cars in the top 10. In Barcelona, that has to happen again. "The goal is to have both cars in the points," Szafnauer tells AutoHebdo. "If we want to meet our goals for the year, this is the minimum that is needed for the remaining Grands Prix. We have consistently shown that we have a competitive car and it is now important that we turn this promising pace into points on Sunday."

New rear wing

Alpine introduced a new floor for both cars in Miami. Szafnauer indicated earlier this week that he will also come up with a major update in Barcelona. Alpine will then have, for example, a new rear wing on the cars.
