First safety car of sprint race: Zhou and Gasly hit each other
The sprint race did not go as hoped for Guanyu Zhou. The Chinese driver hit Pierre Gasly on the opening lap, causing a safety car. The Alfa Romeo driver will have to start last on Sunday at the Imola circuit.
Zhou hit the wall, preventing him from continuing on his way. AlphaTauri driver Gasly was able to do so. He managed to reach the pits with a flat tire and received a new front wing, among other things.
Race officials investigated the incident but decided not to issue any penalties. This to the great dissatisfaction of the Frenchman Gasly, because it was clearly heard over the on-board radio that he clearly considered Zhou guilty.
