Ferrari had an excellent first day in Australia. Where Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc grabbed the first and two positions in the first session, they recorded the third and first positions in the second free practice. Peter Windsor therefore expects a lot from the team.

Although the Italian racing team had great difficulty competing among the top teams in recent years, this season is different. From the test days in Barcelona and Bahrain it was clear that Ferrari has a competitive car with which it can fight for the world title. It kept that form at the beginning of the season.

Ferrari is competitive again in Australia

Mattia Binotto 's team managed to secure the first and second final positions in the opening race in Bahrain, while a week later it captured the second and third places. Also in Australia, Ferrari seems to be able to compete for the podium places again, which seems to unleash another interesting battle with Red Bull Racing.

"They were going to be super quick in Melbourne and so it proved. Carlos Sainz looking superb in the first session," says Windsor on his YouTube channel. "Later on Charles Leclerc going quickest on the soft tyre runs in the FP2. It didn't look as if Carlos at that point got in the perfect lap and Charles was on the absolute edge."
