Lewis Hamilton had the victory halfway through the
Italian Grand Prix in his bag, that much was clear to everyone. However, the team that made a mistake in its pit stop gave someone else a chance to win. According to Peter Windsor that should have been
Valtteri Bottas, but according to the journalist he really fell short today.
Bottas started the race from the first row of the grid, didn't get away well and lost several places in the following laps. It's an achievement that can count on a lot of criticism from journalist Windsor, who is pretty tough on the Finn on his
Youtube channel. He should have grabbed his chance here.
Bottas and Verstappen were unable to take advantage of Hamilton's mistake.
"You expect Valtteri Bottas to win this race. That is what Mercedes is hiring him for. If Lewis has a problem, you are going to win this race Valtteri. Well, he didn't. He was nowhere at all. He drove some of the worst, slowest and most uninspired opening laps I've seen in a long time." After that we saw very little of Bottas and he was stuck behind
Lando Norris for most of the race. Normally Windsor would have expected
Max Verstappen to pick up the crumbs, but he didn't give up this weekend either, so it was
Pierre Gasly and the McLarens who stole the show.
