'Australia's Grand Prix returns to the calendar, but not without risk'

The Australian Grand Prix seems to return to Melbourne in 2021 after all. Where in recent months there has been a rumour that The Bend wanted to take the race back south, Albert Park does not intend to give up the place.

Between 1985 and 1995 Adelaide was the proud host of a Formula 1 race. It was until then the only circuit in Australia to have organised an official Formula 1 race, but was taken over by Albert Park in 1996. The Prime Minister of South Australia, Steven Marshall, said earlier that he would like to take the race back south.

Marshall said that they have a 'great track', but also 'that we are definitely thinking of running for 2021'. However, according to Motorsport.com those plans can be postponed, because that medium has been informed that Melbourne will open the Formula 1 season in 2021 after all.

This plan is not entirely without risk, as Australia is still in quarantine and complies with strict rules to prevent the virus from growing. Now we are talking about mid-March for the race at Albert Park, but it cannot be ruled out that a race in Australia will be impossible at all in 2021.
