Marquez enjoys holiday ahead of MotoGP's British Grand Prix return

While the Formula 1 summer break is just about to begin, the Spanish rider is already enjoying some time away from competition. The MotoGP season will resume next week with the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

On social media, Marquez shared photos from his trip to Menorca with his partner, Gemma Pinto. He was also joined by his brother, Alex Marquez, who competes for Gresini Racing.

The championship contender has been enjoying surfing and relaxing on the beach on the Spanish island. The two Marquez brothers also went on a few rides, but instead of motorcycles, they hoped on bicycles.

Soon, the MotoGP grid will head to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix. After missing the races at Le Mans and the entire weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Marquez trailed Marco Bezzecchi by as many as 102 points at one stage of the season.

The picture looks completely different now. Having won two Sprints and three Grands Prix in Hungary, Brno and at the Sachsenring, he is now just 18 points behind Aprilia Racing's Jorge Martin and four points behind Trackhouse's Ai Ogura at the halfway point of the season.

He is also recovering from his injury, but thanks to cutting his deficit, he eyes defending his crown. He previously explained: "In Assen, we knew from the start that we would have to grit our teeth and suffer, but we still managed to manage the situation and score important points for the Championship. "

He added: "I feel like I'm not the strongest one and I'm not the fastest one, but [it's like] nobody wants to be the fastest one. So at the moment, it's five names in the championship that are fighting every race there."
