The first grid penalty of the MotoGP season was handed out to Michele Pirro on the first day in Thailand.
As the first day of the new MotoGP campaign got underway at the Buriram circuit in Thailand, drivers set competitive lap times in practice to secure a place in Q2.
Pirro, who replaces an injured Fermin Aldeguer, became the first to receive a grid penalty, after disturbing his teammate Alex Marquez on a flying lap.
The incident did not matter in the end, as Alex Marquez finished sixth and booked his place in Q2. The session was topped by Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi. Recap the full session here!
