Fabio Di Giannantonio claimed a memorable pole position at the Ayrton Senna Autodrome in Brazil, beating Marc Marquez and Marco Bezzecchi by less then a tenth of a second.
Despite the mostly clear weather for the session, the track still suffered from damp patches after flooding earlier in the week which caught out several riders including Marc Marquez, Pedro Acosta and Pecco Bagnaia.
Marco Bezzecchi managed to rescue himself from Q1 after finishing yesterday's timed practice in 20th, and put it on the front row. However, just like Marquez and many others, he also crashed out at one point during the session.
Fabio Quartararo was also very impressive, securing P4 with the Yamaha.
It was also an unfortunate Q1 session for both Brazilian riders, Diogo Moreira and Franco Morbidelli, as both were eliminated an unable to reach Q2.

Elsewhere, KTM also came off worse than expected with Acosta only able to secure P9 while Binder, Vinales and Bastianini will lock out the very back row of the grid.
