Championship leader Martin finally unwinds after completing remarkable challenge

Martin did not switch off over the past five days, instead taking on a new challenge on two wheels. This time, however, he swapped his bike for a bicycle.

At the TransPyrenees Challenge, he rode a total of 876 kilometers in total. He wrote: "876km/18500+/ 31 hours. We made it from Roses to San Sebastián. Trying to be better every day!"

After a difficult first campaign with Aprilia last year, Martin currently leads the MotoGP riders' standings following his fifth-place finish at the German Grand Prix. He holds a 14-point lead over Ai Ogura and is 18 points clear of defending world champion Marc Marquez.

After completing the challenge, the former MotoGP world champion shared photos from his holiday in Ibiza on Instagram today, captioning the post: "Balance."

The MotoGP season continues next week with the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

From next season, the Spaniard will no longer race for Aprilia after signing a deal with Yamaha. At the Japanese manufacturer, Ogura will become his teammate.

"A new era. Two exceptional talents. One shared ambition," the team wrote.

Previously speaking to AS, he addressed his decision to join Yamaha. "Well, all the decisions I make, as I told you before, I make because I believe it’s the best for me and my family.
