There’s been plenty of speculation in recent weeks about
Max Verstappen’s future in
Formula 1.
The Dutchman has long been linked to a potential move to Mercedes, and it’s no secret that
Toto Wolff would be interested in securing the four-time world champion.
Recently, both Wolff and Verstappen happened to be present on the Italian island of Sardinia at the same time.
The news quickly spread through the paddock, with many assuming the two were there to discuss a possible deal. However, GPblog previously reported that no meeting actually took place between Verstappen and Wolff in Sardinia.
The team boss has now first responded to the rumours, setting the record straight once and for all.
For Ferrari, the Belgian GP represents a crucial litmus test ahead of the second half of the season.

Despite a season so far below expectations—especially considering last year’s battle with McLaren until the final race—the Italian team still holds second place in the Constructors’ Championship and is banking heavily on the new rear suspension upgrade, which will make its official debut at the Belgian GP weekend. Team principal Frederic Vasseur shared his expectations about the new upgrade.
Max Verstappen is widely regarded as one of the greatest drivers in the sport’s history. Catching the Dutchman making a mistake is rare — but according to Villeneuve, that doesn’t mean he’s without weaknesses.
