Aston Martin is understood to be in talks with Red Bull’s Head of Racing and
Max Verstappen’s long-time race engineer,
Gianpiero Lambiase, regarding a senior role within the team.
Speculation around Lambiase’s future intensified after an emotional radio exchange with Verstappen following the Abu Dhabi season finale, where the Dutch driver finished runner-up to Lando Norris.
Lambiase’s visible emotion on the pit wall and the exchange led to suggestions his role at Red Bull could be nearing an end. While a promotion within Red Bull had previously been considered the most likely outcome, reports now state Aston Martin has offered Lambiase a senior management position.
A move would see him reunite with former Red Bull technical director Adrian Newey, who is leading Aston Martin’s 2026 project. Verstappen has previously stressed the importance of Lambiase to his career, stating he would stop racing if they could no longer work together.
Ted Kravitz has analysed
Lewis Hamilton’s struggles during his first season with
Ferrari, pointing to expectations that did not fully materialise. Speaking on Sky F1, Kravitz said Hamilton believed he could transfer his experience from Mercedes and McLaren to Ferrari and make limited changes to restore consistent success.
He also noted Hamilton initially felt fully supported by Ferrari chairman John Elkann and team principal Fred Vasseur, though that perception shifted later in the season following comments made by Elkann.
Kravitz added that Ferrari’s longer-term contract offer was a key factor in Hamilton’s decision to leave Mercedes. Despite the difficulties, Kravitz believes Hamilton will remain with Ferrari, focusing on improvement ahead of 2026. Hamilton failed to score a podium in his debut season and was eliminated in Q1 in the final three races of the campaign.
