After Verstappen's title bid had decisively ended with McLaren's Lando Norris clinching his maiden championship in the season finale in Abu Dhabi, an emotional exchange between the Dutch driver and the British engineer followed, where Lambiase urged Verstappen to hold his head up after the near-missed title. The championship runner-up replied with a seemingly suggestive: "We showed them one final time who's boss."

The exchange between the two friends coupled with Lambiase being overrun with emotion on the pitwall led to speculation that the British engineer's time as the 'voice' in Verstappen's head had come to an end.

The possibility of an exit from Red Bull's ranks was not in the horizon, though, as a promotion to a higher position within the Red Bull structure seemed the more plausible outcome.

Nevertheless, it now appears that Aston Martin has offered Lambiase a senior management position within the Silverstone-based outfit. Should he take the offer he would encounter a very familiar face spearheding Aston Martin's highly anticipated 2026 campagin in the form of former Red Bull technical director Adrian Newey.

In the past, Verstappen has made clear the impact his relationship with Lambiase has on not only his presence in Red Bull Racing, but in the series as well, with the Dutchman stating that if he can no longer work alongside Lambiase he would simply stop right there and then.
