"We bought a flat in my hometown that's now being finished. The older I get, the more I value time with my family and friends, since I don't get it that often," Russell's partner, Carmen Montero Mundt shared in an Instagram story.
The couple lives in Monaco, as many other
F1 drivers such as Max Verstappen, Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon do, but now also have a different place they can call home.
"Buying my first home in Jerez was really important to me," she continued.
According to Russell's girlfriend, they are also perfectly matched to remodel the aforementioned flat. "We relax doing and fixing things. We can't sit still for too long I'm afraid," she explained.
The Mercedes driver and Montero Mundt began dating publicly in 2020. She is from Spain, but studied at the University of Westminster in London, where she focused on business management and finance.
After completing her studies, she went on to work in the investment sector, building her own career while supporting Russell during his rapid rise in
Formula 1.
Russell earns another podium in Azerbaijan
The Briton finished second behind Max Verstappen last Sunday at the Baku City Circuit, starting from P5 on the grid.
According to Mercedes CEO and team principal Toto Wolff,
Russell could nearly match the Dutchman's pace as well.
The Austrian commented: "Our first analysis showed that we were within a tenth of Max in [terms of] pure performance. So I think, yes, it would have been a race at the front, at least.
"Whether it would have been enough for a win, I don't know, but the car was good on both tyres and his pace was impressive."
