Fernando Alonso is full of praise for top designer Adrian Newey, comparing him to a chess player.
There are moments when, to be able to understand him, you need to use all your brain capacity. Even if Adrian only uses five per cent, for us, for normal people, we need to use much more.

"He's an incredible person, the best designer in the history of our sport, and everyone in the team is learning a lot from him," two-time world champion began talking about Newey in a feature on the team's website.
"Everything Adrian does, you try to understand why he is doing that, why he chose that direction, or why he's answering in that way, because there is always something to learn from him," he continued.
"Even from a simple answer that he can give to you in response to a question, that simple answer can be so clear to him, but why is it not for others?
"There are moments when, to be able to understand him, you need to use all your brain capacity. Even if Adrian only uses five per cent, for us, for normal people, we need to use much more," the driver laughed.
Asked about the master designer's quality to think ahead, Alonso answered: "I think he could be a very good chess player."
Alonso previous praised the way Newey looks forward to different challenges down the road. Talking to GPblog, he said, "It's great to see him working and thinking in things or problems that we may face, even by race seven, after some of the first upgrades and things like that. It is incredible."

Newey in a 'trance'

The Briton joined the team in March, after completing his gardening leave from Red Bull Racing.
"Adrian right now is in a trance focused on drawing next year's car. So we spent some time together and it's always great just hearing what he has to say and just talking about the future.
"He's just so passionate and excited about the new regulations. That's what's awesome to see: just how much passion, focus, effort is going into the new regs," the Canadian driver previously commented to GPblog.
