These drivers could replace Ricciardo for the Dutch Grand Prix

It was a scare for Daniel Ricciardo: Oscar Piastri went off in front of him in the second free practice session. The AlphaTauri driver had to swerve to avoid his compatriot and crashed himself. The Australian still had his hands on the wheel, during the incident, and over the radio he immediately let it be known that he was in pain. Now he has been spotted by the Norwegian Viaplay crew wearing a sling and is said to have driven away from the track, possibly to the hospital. Should Ricciardo be unable to drive, who could possibly be his replacement?

Liam Lawson as Ricciardo replacement

The first, and the easiest option, is Liam Lawson. The New Zealand talent is at the Red Bull Driver Academy, and he is a reserve driver for Red Bull. He is also already at the track this weekend, so it would not be an illogical choice to have him in the car in the event of Ricciardo's injury.

Return of Nyck de Vries?

There is also a possibility that Nyck de Vries may yet be allowed to return to action in his home race. The Dutchman was replaced by Ricciardo after the Silverstone Grand Prix, but in principle, he is still under contract with AlphaTauri. He is not present at the circuit, so that could make things tricky for De Vries.
