Enea Bastianini miraculously escaped a horrific accident during the MotoGP Grand Prix of Hungary. The Tech3 KTM rider crashed and slid back onto the track among the motorcycles, but was able to not be hit by anyone.

MotoGP rider slides back onto the track after crash

The race weekend at Balaton Park was far from ideal for Bastianini, who crashed twice in the sprint race on Saturday and had to perform a double long lap penalty during the main race due to a crash he caused. On Sunday afternoon, the Italian made a good start but fell in the first lap. This happened at a dangerous point: due to the layout of the chicane, he slid back onto the track, while all the riders were still very close together.
It seemed to turn into a horror scenario. Bastianini could only watch as he saw the other riders coming towards him and slid across the asphalt between the motorcycles. However, all riders managed to miraculously avoid him and he got away unscathed. The images of the moment can be seen below. A day earlier, during qualifying, a cameraman got lucky when he just missed being hit by Pedro Acosta's flying motorcycle.

Bastianini's crash was somewhat reminiscent of the 2020 Austrian GP, when both Valentino Rossi and Maverick Viñales miraculously escaped the clutches of two out-of-control motorcycles. Johann Zarco and Franco Morbidelli also crashed in a chicane, their bikes shooting straight ahead and back onto the track between the riders. Everyone escaped unharmed, but the chicane had to be modified for safety reasons.
