Horner points out culprit: "Kerbs are pretty aggressive"

Christian Horner tells Sky Sports of Verstappen's stoppage after coming out of the final corner. "It looks like the driveshaft has given way, unfortunately. So, we are just trying to understand what has caused that and why it happened. Unfortunately, the car went on a trip around Imola town after they collected it and we could get it back in the pits," Horner said.

Probably the kerbs were the cause: "It was on the Friday gearbox, but we will be inspecting all the other parts in time for tomorrow. The kerbs are very aggressive here," said Horner, who will no doubt be sorry that the RB16B could be photographed properly when salvaged.

For Verstappen, it's a major setback, as the Dutchman was just looking to have a weekend without problems in Italy. That can be scrapped, but fortunately, the points will be distributed on Sunday.
