Brawn about Wolff: ''On the basis of what research does he make those statements?'

Formula 1 came up with the idea of testing a new qualifying format during the double races at both Silverstone and the Red Bull Ring. A sprint race with a reverse starting grid, but a vote against Mercedes prevented the plan from going ahead.
Toto Wolff himself has already indicated that he doesn't think the idea is bad in itself, but that it isn't ideal for Mercedes. Mercedes always took the pole during regular qualifying in recent years and would be crazy to vote for a plan now where they have to start from the back. Ross Brawn understands Wolff, but is also disappointed.

Mercedes blocks the plans

''Toto has very cleverly defended the position of Mercedes in Formula 1. Of course he is right on some points, but I wonder on the basis of which research he makes his statements", says Brawn in the broadcast of Sky Sports about the statements of Wolff that only fifteen percent of fans are in favour of this rule.
''Of course there are problems that Toto sees, but we could have solved them if the teams worked together. I understand his concern, though. However, we need unanimity for this plan to continue, so we have to put it on hold for the time being," concludes Brawn.
