Romain Grosjean appeared visibly exhausted at the end of the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen, having raced in extreme heat and without a functioning hydration system. What Romain Grosjean experienced during the Six Hours of The Glen, held on the historic Watkins Glen circuit, is exactly what a driver would never want to go through inside the cockpit in the middle of a race.
The former
F1 driver, who now competes in IMSA with Lamborghini, made headlines at the latest IMSA event not only for his skills behind the wheel but also for his extraordinary physical endurance and resilience, much like he demonstrated following the dramatic crash in Bahrain in 2020.
After the race, the French driver shared the harrowing experience he lived inside his cockpit, unable to drink due to a malfunctioning system and without air conditioning or a cooling vest to fight the extreme heat.
Grosjean left 'absolutely cooked'
"I'm absolutely cooked, and I know what I'm talking about when I say I'm cooking'', he told Autosport while visibly exhausted after the race.
Despite the punishing conditions and spending a full three hours in the cockpit under such circumstances, Grosjean helped bring the #63 Lamborghini to a seventh-place finish after starting from eleventh on the grid.
The top finishers in the race were Tom Blomqvist and Colin Braun, who claimed first place driving the ACURA ARX-06. In second came Jordan Taylor and Louis Deletraz in a Cadillac V-Series.R, while third place went to Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque, also behind the wheel of a Cadillac V-Series.R.
