Red Bull hands Alpine the much-coveted trophy for Gasly's third place in Monaco

Alpine does not need to worry: Red Bull Racing really does plan to hand over the trophy that Isack Hadjar received for originally finishing third in Monaco to Pierre Gasly after all, GPblog can confirm. The teams are coordinating among themselves about where and when that will happen.
It was Hadjar who ultimately stood on the third step of the podium in Monte Carlo, even though the Red Bull Racing crossed the line in fourth. Hadjar benefited from two penalties for Gasly that were only added to his time after the Grand Prix. But Alpine and Gasly did not accept those penalties for speeding in the pit lane. A week later, the stewards overturned the sanction, which meant the Alpine driver was classified third after all.
Red Bull Racing is one of the teams intending to appeal the stewards’ decision. In theory, the result could be revised again. Nevertheless, Red Bull plans to hand over the trophy Hadjar received in Monte Carlo to Alpine, so they can place it in their trophy cabinet.

Red Bull and Alpine in talks

It is unclear when that will happen. There was a rumor that the trophy was present in the F1 paddock in Barcelona, but that turned out not to be the case. Alpine and Red Bull are in contact to transfer the trophy at some point. Understandably, that was difficult last weekend because the piece wasn’t in Spain.

A perhaps notable addition: Nowhere in the rules does it state that you must return a trophy if you lose a place in the classification. In practice, it would therefore be possible for Red Bull to keep the trophy themselves. The fact that teams don’t do this (as in previous cases) is, of course, a sign of sportsmanship.
However, it is also a fact that the result of the Monaco Grand Prix is not final at the time of the handover. At least Mercedes has also requested a Right or Review. The German team believes it is unfair that Gasly was not penalized, while George Russell was.
In both cases, there was no speeding in the pit lane. Gasly responded in Barcelona, when asked about the other, unjust penalties, with a strong statement.
