Williams have been summoned immediately by the FIA following the British GP - the alleged offence is unlapping under the Safety Car when they were not entitled to do so.
Carlos Sainz had finished P12 at Silverstone, while his teammate Alex Albon retired during the late Safety Car - the Thai driver had already suffered a 10-second penalty following an early clash with Hass Ollie Bearman.
The FIA's statement reads: "Alleged Breach of Article B5.13.4c of the FIA F1 Regulations – unlapping behind the Safety Car when not entitled to do so."
Following Max Verstappen's crash, and a lengthy spell under the Safety Car, unlapped cars were ordered to unlap themselves on Lap 51 of 52 - with Sainz alleged to have done so before the instruction.
