Oscar Piastri has been summoned to the stewards after the Austrian Grand Prix for allegedly driving unnecessarily slowly during the reconnaissance laps, following a race in which the Australian finished fourth, just missing out on the podium. The
McLaren driver has specifically been accused of a potential breach of Article 12.2.1.i of the International Sporting Code and of failing to comply with the Race Director's Event Notes. He has been summoned to explain his version of events to the stewards at 17:10 local time.
His race, much like McLaren's overall, was largely uneventful compared to Mercedes and Red Bull, who battled three-wide for victory right until the final lap. Meanwhile, both McLaren drivers and Ferrari were left trailing behind, never genuinely looking capable of challenging for a podium finish.
