Friday in Vegas saw a number of incidents with drivers going off the circuit or having brushes with wall given the slippery and dusty track surface and the cold Nevada desert temperatures.

However, as the field prepared for the qualifying simulations in FP2, an incided would require the running to be neutralised prompting the red flag to wave, requiring all the cars to return to the pits.

The reason was a loose manhole cover, which gave the Las Vegas GP organisation and Formula 1 a large headache in the first edition of the race in 2023.

To prevent further neautralisations of any sessions due to this matter, the FIA revealed it had taken appropriate action to fix the problematic manhole cover as well as do necessary checks on the rest.

"The manhole that prompted the red flag in FP2 was disassembled and further inspected," an FIA spokepoerson said.
