Rafael Camara has secured Pole Position for the the F2 Feature Race in Barcelona. The Brazilian's 1:24.810 lap time was enough to edge out Invicta teammate Joshua Duerksen and Alpine junior Alex Dunne.
The action got underway with something of a split field, as 11 drivers remained in the pits for an extended period of time. In the first half of flying laps, Invicta's Joshua Duerksen went P1 with a 1:25.441, before Colton Herta surprised with an impressive lap to go Provisional Pole, the American is just off the back of having completed
FP1 for parent team Cadillac earlier in the day. However, as more of the grid started to get out for the second half - Red Bull junior grabbed Provisional Pole with a 1:25.222, a tenth or so ahead of Herta.
But then, Ferrari hopeful Camara put in his mightily impressive lap for Invicta - it saw him go four tenths ahead of Campos' Tsolov with fifteen minutes to go, with Duerksen later just over a tenth behind the Brazilian.
Alex Dunne then rose to P3 behind Duerksen and Camara, respectively, after an anxious wait to get a lap in. The Irishman had fallen foul of track limits earlier.
Late drama ensued as Herta's Hitech teammate Ritomo Miyata brought out a Red Flag with just under four minutes to go. The Japanese driver slid onto the gravel at the final corner and crashed into the barrier.
Not every driver decided to get out for a final flyer, with none ultimately able to take away Camara's Pole Position for the Feature Race.
