Charles Leclerc retires from Monaco Grand Prix!

Ferrari star Charles Leclerc has retired from the Monaco Grand Prix, as the Monegasque got damage to his floor after puncturing his tyre trying to overtake Nico Hülkenberg at Rascasse.

The home driver had a nightmare start of his weekend on Saturday, failing to get out of Q1 as he qualified in P16 for Ferrari. He moved up to P15 because of a grid penalty for Antonio Giovinazzi, however.

His race started well, overtaking two drivers in two laps' time, but it all went wrong when he sized up Nico Hülkenberg. At Rascasse, the same place where he overtook Romain Grosjean just a lap before, he got left no room and spun out, puncturing his left rear tyre in the progress.

In an attempt to get back to the pitlane as quick as possible, the 21-year-old ruined his floor with the loose rubber and pieces of carbon fibre started flying, causing a Safety Car.

Another pitstop left him in P20, and Ferrari eventually decided to pull the plug on his race. It means for the second time in his two-year career, Leclerc has retired from his home race.
